On the 10th June I rode nearly 90 miles in the White Rose Classic in North Yorkshire and came in at 26th place in a little over 5 hours 30 minutes. Very pleased given the relentless hills and temperatures of 28 degrees.
The L'Etape du Tour, France's most prestigious cyclosportive race (if not in the world!) will take place on July 16 in the Pyrenees, from Foix to Loudenvielle, which comprises the 15th Stage of the 2007 Tour de France. This monster of a stage is one of the most challenging, rich, and intense of this coming year's Tour de France our and consists of 196 kilometers (122 miles) and five mountain passes, not to mention some stupendous scenery!

The Challenge
I have been challenged to a bike race - THE bike race for amateurs. I have agreed to the challenge and have 12 months to prepare. I had not ridden a bike for 12 years; I had put on some weight and weighed in at 97kg. On July 16th 2007 I will be attempting the amateur stage of the Tour de France to raise money for the Williams Syndrome Foundation. Yes, I mad. Thanks Simon!

Donating through www.justgiving.com/stephendunn is simple, fast and totally secure. Fabio Casartelli (August 16, 1970 – July 18, 1995) was an Italian cyclist, who died in a crash on the descent of the Col de Portet d'Aspet, during the 15th stage of the 1995 Tour de France. Fabio won the road ccycling Olympic gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
The 2007 Etape will pass the memorial where Fabio died on the Col de Portet d'Aspect
